{{#invoke:Message box|ambox}} The 1968 American Football League draft was part of the common draft, in the second year in which the NFL and AFL held a joint draft of college players. The two-day draft began on Tuesday, January 30, and the first overall pick belonged to the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL. They chose Ron Yary, an offensive tackle from USC at {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}};<ref name=epssbb >{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=news }}</ref> he played 15 seasons and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
