The .357 SIG pistol cartridge (designated as the 357 Sig by the SAAMI <ref name="SAAMI-drawing">SAAMI 357 Sig cartridge and chamber drawings</ref> and 357 SIG by the C.I.P.<ref name="C.I.P.-TDCC sheet">C.I.P. TDCC datasheet 357 SIG</ref>) is the product of Swiss-German firearms manufacturer SIG Sauer, in cooperation with the American ammunition manufacturer Federal Cartridge. While it is based on a .40 S&W case necked down to accept {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} bullets, the .357 SIG brass is slightly longer by {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} to {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} total.
